Pen and ink drawing, comic strips and sketchbooks

I used to go running around a local park, through rain, wind, snow, and sunshine. Trying to utilise the outdoor exercise points, pull up bars, sit up benches, climbing ladders and that sort of thing. Using the exercise as an excuse to reconnoitre the woodland and park for interesting things to draw
after my exertion. I ended up drawing a lot of trees. Exercise like this means I can still consume packets of biscuits without having to worry too much about my waistline. My A5 sketchbooks are usually drawn directly, in the freezing cold, in situ with pen and ink. Applying watercolour later, at
home recovering from exposure and hypothermia. I used to like drawing with dip pens but these days I use Pilot Parallel Pens, they are designed for calligraphy, but I love drawing with them. They have a good range of mark making potential, come in several sizes and are easy to carry around.

DIARY COMICS
DRACULA
NEWS UPDATE
“I have kept diary comics on and off for a few years, I used to self publish them but not so much now. Life passes far too quickly the older I get and diary comics are a great way of recording it.”
“ Having never read Bram Stoker’s Dracula,  I thought it about time to remedy the situation by reading it and drawing a chapter of the book every day over a period of 27 (ish) consecutive days.”
“Drawing work in progress. This will mainly involve working on a new comic strip written by Noel Hannan about a steam driven, WW1 robot on one last visit to the pub, to honour fallen comrades.”
